[april 2025]
Lionel Faury: “The start to the 2023 Condrieu season was fresh-cool with rain, but that stopped around 10 June. 2024, incidentally, also had a wet and cold start, but that lasted longer, until 14 July. The second half of August, those two weeks were very hot, with over 40°C, and a South wind. That dried out some of the vines, but fortunately we had a rainfall of 35 mm (1.4 in] on the last weekend of August, which we needed to re-start the vines, and helped create a beau juice during the harvest. September was fine, so we could take our time on the harvest. 2023 has better balance than 2022, when there were very low acidities, a greater solar impact. The degree is around 14°. I like freshness and finesse, so 2023 is my sort of vintage.”
John Livingston/DrinkRhone.com: “There is nice linger in a stylish bouquet, shows apricot, a hint of tropical fruits, can vary, blossom out. The palate serves a rather densely juiced opening, holds its shape, has spine-structure, its gras coming from within, right inside. It ends on a bout of richness, has been kept on quite a tight leash like my dog Henry, contains old vine reserves, is a wine of interest. There is a neat saline, dried apricot tone on the aftertaste.
