Dark red fruit, garrigues and tobacco in the nose. The taste is elegant and smooth, dominated by cherry- and berry fruit, backed by herbal and leather tones and black olives. The middle is greenish (syrah) and jammy (grenache), with good acidity. A seriously well-made wine, showing great balance. The finish holds well, with soft tannin, is tempting yet structured. A great sample of the wine maker’s style: with precision, focus, passion and care. A classy wine from a less known appellation, therefore nicely priced for the quality offered. For wine lovers that appreciate finesse and elegance over power and extraction. [April 2018]
David-Alexandre Gallety: “Syrah does well here – we are 2°-3°C cooler than the Vaucluse.”
