[september 2019]
John Livingston/drinkrhone.com: “The bouquet has a subdued aroma of cooked white fruits such as peach, in compote form, with nudges of vanilla from the oak. It’s a quietly sturdy opening, and suggests this is table more than aperitif wine. The palate is dense, filled, with a gradual wave of white fruits, nectarine and grape essence, followed by a nutty run from the oak into the finish. It has enough freshness to avoid being static, is a solid white for white meats, full fish such as monkfish, cheese such as Brie de Meaux. It can open further after a second winter. Decanting would be a good idea, too.” [september 2020]
Wine Advocate/Joe Czerwinski: “A barrel-fermented blend of Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier grown in Rasteau (a red-wine-only appellation), the 2018 Cotes du Rhone Blanc la Galopine features aromas of pear, apricot and melon. It’s full-bodied and round in the mouth—lush, in fact—then shows a silky hint of tannin on the finish.” [October 2019]
